The repair costs have gone up as well. Depending on the type of iPhone X you purchase, you are looking at about $329 (screen repair) and $599 (other damage).
If you choose the AppleCare+, you will lay out $269 or $40 more than other iPhones. If you have “other damage” on your Xs, you still have a deductible of $99 before the repair package kicks in.
That sums up the extra costs for the Xs. What about performance?
