Most places will rollout 5G in early 2019. Guess what brand-new phone will not be able to take advantages of 5G? Yup, your new, uber-expensive iPhone Xs. Apple is slow to jump on the new technology bandwagon and the 5G modems are made by Apple enemy Qualcomm.
Apple has chosen to use Gigabit LTE in the X series which should give similar internet speeds. If you want actual 5G capability, you won’t find it in your iPhone.
