Why Immigration Is Not For You

While it certainly okay to move to another country on a whim it doesn’t come without its pitfalls. Unless you have an airtight reason to move, your entire trip could be for nought.

Here are some reasons why immigration might not be the best solution for you.

Top Reasons Not To Immigrate

1. High Cost Of Living

If you think moving to another country is magically going to solve all your financial problems you might be fooling yourself. Job opportunities in your country of choice are just as hard to come by as the country you’re living in. What could be worse is the higher cost of living after immigration you will have to deal with, and you’ll have fewer funds to deal with them.

2. Immigration Is Expensive

Apart from the flight tickets, the cost of the move, and then trying to get rid of all your belongings the immigration fee itself can be very expensive. Think very carefully if it’s what you want.

3. Love

If your primary motive for moving is to find love, you might be left very disappointed no matter where you go. While we may think we’re different we’re actually more alike than we know. You’ll face the same setbacks, problems, and annoyances wherever you go. Do not immigrate for love.

4. Language Barriers

While moving to a different country might seem great on the surface, day to day life isn’t as easy as you might think. Especially if you’re moving to a country where you don’t speak the local language. You can make do while on holiday, but don’t think that’s going to be your entire life. Just doesn’t work that way.

5. In Search Of Adventure

If you seek adventure, you can find it on your doorstep. Looking for adventure in a different country usually leads to disappointment which can disrupt your entire move. Think about what you really want to achieve before you go.

6. Friends and Family

No matter how much you’d like to believe you won’t miss your old life, you will. Especially your friends and family. Everything you care about will be left behind and some people are just not emotionally equipped to handle that kind of change.

7. Food

We all love our local cuisines. Sure globalization has made it so that we can usually find cuisines from all over the world where we live, but it just won’t have the right flavours. Some people find it so hard to adjust to the new diet they give up on their immigration dream half way. Do you know any foodie who couldn’t live without their local cuisine?

8. Fitting In Will Not Be Easy

When moving to another country you have to be respectful of their traditions, cultures, and rules. They may be vastly different from the life you currently live. If you don’t try to live by their guidelines they’ll see you as a troublemaker and you’ll have a problem fitting in. You’ll have a problem fitting in in any case.
